At Jumpstart, we believe that students learn best when they:
- Feel respected
- Trust the instructor to competently provide relevant instruction presented in an efficient manner
- Are supported beyond the class
We accomplish these objectives in several ways:
- Jumpstart instructors talk to students with respect and in understandable terms. Students are neither talked down to because they do not know a certain skill, nor are they left behind because of unfamiliar terminology.
- All questions, whether within the course description or not, are acknowledged. Most questions are answered on the spot. If a question is out of place for the current topic or course, it is recorded then answered later during class or during a break to interested individuals.
- Jumpstart instructors work hard to use and remember names. With many years of teaching experience, we know that this small gesture helps to create an enjoyable, safe learning environment.
- The Jumpstart instructor uses real work examples to communicate concepts.Students feel grounded from the start, realizing that the instructor has some familiarity with their real jobs. This allows students to better grasp and transfer learning from the classroom to your Organization and real work applications.
- Jumpstart uses proven teaching methods. Concepts are presented using the process of ‘I do, we do, you do’ which cements the knowledge in the learner’s mind.
- Jumpstart provides thorough, customized documentation. Because documentation is produced just prior to each class, it can be customized to the organization, including screen shots of procedures and setups unique to the organization. Students are encouraged to make notes in the book during class, and refer to it after the class for reminders.
- Students are welcome to contact Jumpstart after the class for support. If students need something explained again or in more detail, they have an email address and phone number to contact Jumpstart directly for more direction for six months following the class. Additionally, Jumpstart instructors often work with individuals during lunch and after class.
Jumpstart instructors are not only knowledgeable, respectful and understandable, they really enjoy teaching. Their enthusiasm in the classroom is contagious.
As a result of these efforts, students learn and consistently enjoy being in a Jumpstart classroom.
