Training

Students learn best when they feel respected and trust the instructor to competently provide relevant instruction.

How does Jumpstart create this environment?

Instructors talk to students with respect and in understandable terms. Students are neither talked down to because they do not know a certain skill, nor are they left behind because of unfamiliar terminology.

The instructor uses real work examples to communicate concepts. Students feel grounded from the start, realizing that the instructor has some familiarity with their real jobs. This allows students to better grasp and transfer learning from the classroom to the workstation.

All questions, whether within the course description or not, are acknowledged. Most questions are answered on the spot. If a question is out of place for the current topic or course, it is written on the board then answered later during class or during a break to interested individuals.

The instructor works hard to use and remember names. With many years of teaching experience, we know that this small gesture helps to create an enjoyable, safe learning environment.

Jumpstart instructors are not only knowledgeable, respectful and understandable, they really enjoy teaching. Their enthusiasm in the classroom is contagious.

Students learn, and, consistently enjoy being in a Jumpstart classroom.
